The cycle Sportive event, sponsored by Cala Homes, takes place on 24 August from Alford Community Campus for over 18 year olds. The rides will take cyclists through the most incredibly scenic but challenging routes, including the Suie, Cabrach and the Lecht, consisting of 26, 51, and 102 miles, a variety of levels can take part. The 26 mile route is suitable for everyone who cycles on a reasonably regular basis. It follows the Don and has stunning viewpoints over to the Tap O’ Noth as you rise up the Suie. The 51 mile route takes you up into the wild country of the Buck before passing the Tap O’Noth and the 102 mile route is about as challenging as it gets with over 2000m of ascent over the mountains in the magnificent Cairngorms National Park. Cyclists will be fully supported with timing, refreshment stations, marshals, first-aid, finishers medal, Samaritans buff, plenty of cakes, a hot lunch and plenty of friendly faces.
Talking with Samaritans can be life-changing, and the team of local Aberdeen Samaritans volunteers work round the clock to try to ensure that no plea for help goes unanswered. As well as a telephone and email service, Aberdeen Samaritans have an Outreach Team and a Prison Team to make a real difference in the community.
